If you're going to kidnap someone, and try to claim a ransom, you should probably avoid the following:

1) Kidnapping someone who is so piss poor that they can't aford a ransom

2) Kidnapping some with clear links to your criminal group (like publically dating your hooker bait)

3) Almost immediately killing your hostage

4) Disposing of the body so badly that, even in Peru, it took only 6 days to find
