Oh, I don't know. It worked out well enough for Lucky Luciano, who reorganized the Cosa Nostra and became the dominant organized crime boss in the USA. Eventually retiring to Italy (unwillingly it must be admitted - he was deported), he even lived long enough to die of a heart attack.
