He was standing at the entrance, tired, gray-haired, with a heavy bag in his hand. An elderly man was relieving himself right next to the house. A passerby, a young guy, about thirty years old could not stand it and made a remark. He said it directly, without swearing, in a human way: “You can’t do that.”

The answer was unexpected. The old man, without embarrassment, said that his kidneys were not holding up after “serving time,” that he did not want to “disgrace himself in the elevator.” And he added with gloomy pride: “I am from Pervogorsk.
