The level of poverty in those countries is astounding. It’s understandable why when you see how they live. I’d never seen anything like it until I took a trip to Mexico where we had to take a passenger van from one hotel to the other and we drove through the country for a couple of hours. The normal population lives in tiny box homes without glass windows or front doors. They have nothing but themselves.

In 2022, Mexico had 46.8 million people living in poverty, representing 36.3% of the population. Additionally, 9.1 million people (7.1% of the population) were in extreme poverty. While the number of people in poverty has decreased since 2016, the number in extreme poverty has slightly increased.
