Re: (Graphic) Liberation of Buchenwald
I remember seeing this on the tv the Buchenwald liberation bit the British troops dragged all the locals from the village down the road to see it marching them all past telling them not to turn away from the graphic sites they were about to see and to look at what you let happen not that far away from your houses without doing anything about it to stop it or tell the world it was going on.

Re: (Graphic) Liberation of Buchenwald
I remember. I read up on that stuff. I also read how Churchill made a deal with 90,000 expatriate Russian troops to give them modern weapons and let them go back to Russia and save Russia from the communists. he first made a meeting with the higher officers of the men. Then arrested all the officers. Then had the troops turn in thier weapons and then marched them back to the hands of the Russian army. They were promptly executed. All 90,000 of them. Of course the Russian army executed any POWs who were returned to them. It was feared that they had been exposed to the evils of capitalism or fascism. So if you weren't killed in battle and were instead captured pray that you were not returned to Russia. The mother land would kill you anyways. Just to be sure.

Re: (Graphic) Liberation of Buchenwald
My family was lucky. They were communist sympathizers and fled to USA early on sometime in the late 1800s I guess. I grew up being ashamed to think that we were germans and could be part of the people who did this. Then I discovered that my great great grandfather was a Jew. If he had stayed his children would of been sent to the camps I suppose.

Re: (Graphic) Liberation of Buchenwald
There is a six part series of videos on YouTube showing what was found in several of the camps, more video of the townspeople being taken through the camps, and a little more of the gore someone said they wanted, although not a huge amount. Very moving. Here is a link to part 1: [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjIJsBE9eqE"]YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.[/nomedia] |
