My opinion: the cops did not give him enough time to react, especially taking into account that the victim was listening to music and did not hear. The cop was afraid that there was a weapon so he fired. I do not feel that this was justified.

If he was black and in Compton would you give the same excuses? Im sorry, but the guy that got shot can clearly see that he was at gunpoint???? How can he not understand the "Visual" commands?????? I could easily have see that he had his weapon drawn and pointing at him????

See guns are a problem of course, but the US cant see that because its there right to murder each other aslong as its not a cop.

How long did he have between turning around and bring shot? 5 seconds? Why didn't the cop make any real effort to give first aid?

You need to put yourself in the victims perspective for a second.

Yiure drunk, with your friends, walking outside. There is nothing going on that would indicate there is about to be a gun pointed at your face.

Suddenly, you turn around, and there is a gun in your face........ how are you going to react?
It's easy to sit here and say he should have done this, or shouldn't have done that, but when you're faced with that there is no telling how any of us would react.

I totally agree that the victim should have just put his hands up slowly, and followed the officers commands. I just don't think that he fully registered what was happening, and he reacted without thinking.

I'm not sure that pointing a gun at someone without being certain they are the suspect, or that they are armed, is a good thing either.
All the victim was doing is slowly walking away, and the cop had his gun out pointing it at the victim.
