It is the extreme end result of prohibition..what happens when the drug lords can't call the police & say "he stole my prescription" or "he breached my copywrite!" Without legal recourse they enforce discipline & "honesty" as barbarians. Of course in Mexico it's probably "the police" doing this as they all work for the cartels. You have to wonder, how do you turn it around now it's gone this far?

^It's become too engrained. In my opinion, it'd be different if it were a means to an actual end...but it's done nothing. So the beheadings become more frequent and more brutal (much to the amusement of DR regulars) and it becomes "the norm" as opposed to an extreme tactic used to achieve something. There's too much at stake $$$ wise. It's not like any of the cartels leaders have seen a video like this and have gone, "Oh holy fuck! They do THAT!? Well fuck this noise, I'm out! Pack up Jose, we're done with this shit. Call the Zetas and tell 'em they win, and I'll even redecorate the hideout as a "welcome" gift in any scheme/decor they want....What? Periwinkle Blue!?...". Not that I know of anyway. It's actually jarringly amazing how the power struggle works down there. This ain't stopping anytime soon. |
