Re: Gnarly Car Wreck in Alabama
Browyn Lavar Fortner, also known as Bronwyn Fortner, was a 46-year-old resident of Birmingham, Alabama, who tragically lost his life in a traffic accident on March 28, 2024. The incident occurred just after 5:31 p.m. in the 2600 block of Jefferson Avenue Southwest in the Germania Park area. Fortner was driving an older Ford Crown Victoria when it collided with a Nissan Murano. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:00 p.m., and his dog, Sky, who was with him in the vehicle, also perished in the crash. The driver of the other vehicle, a woman, was seriously injured and taken to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The Birmingham Police Department is still investigating the cause of the crash, and no further details about the circumstances have been released. Fortner was a former police officer, having served in multiple departments including Birmingham, Brighton, Lipscomb, Fairfield, and Harpersville. He was also known as a beloved security officer in his community. Following the accident, a crowd gathered at the scene, and at least one person broadcast the aftermath live on Facebook, showing Fortner deceased inside his vehicle. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office officially identified him as the victim on April 3, 2024. |
