"A GLIMPSE OF THE BLOODY TRAGEDY IN DOGIYAI", Indonesia
"A GLIMPSE OF THE BLOODY TRAGEDY IN DOGIYAI" MOANEMANI: March 31, 2026, 10:12 a.m. WIB (Western Indonesian Time), a police officer with the initials JE was stabbed in the neck, five of his fingers mutilated, and he died on the spot near the Ebenezer Church intersection in Moanemani. A series of gunshots began to rumble across the skyline of Moanemani, as the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (POLRI) fired indiscriminately at residents. A Hailux police vehicle chased several youths on motorcycles from downtown Moanemani to the Kamuu Utara District. Along the way, officers searched homes (unintelligible gunfire). The operation resulted in civilian casualties, struck by bullets from the joint forces. The victims included: 1. Siprianus Tibakoto, who was hit in the back of the head and died. 2. Ester Pigai, an elderly woman (80 years old) who had been paralyzed for a long time, was hit in the torso and was pronounced dead. 3. Martinus Yobee was hit in the stomach, causing his intestines to protrude and was pronounced dead. 4. J. Edoway, a police officer (OAP) and was pronounced dead. In addition to the fatalities, two trucks were also set on fire by youths, and the drivers fled in panic, fleeing into the hilly forest. The situation in Dogiyai City remains tense. The streets are eerily silent, and public mobility and routines have been reduced following the incident that occurred this afternoon. The Police and Military Posts are filled with enthusiastic TNI/Polri soldiers. The sound of gunfire can still be heard faintly in the distance around Moanemani City. We urge all parties to advocate, especially human rights workers, journalists, traditional leaders, churches, the government, etc.
