Glass Floor Elevator in Bali Plunges 5 to Their Deaths
Surveillance footage has captured the final seconds before a lift carrying five workers at a Balinese resort plunged down a ravine after a cable snapped. The horrific incident happened on Friday at the Ayuterra Resort in the popular tourist area of Ubud, an area known for its terraced rice fields and tropical jungles. It's believed the lift fell about 100m before it crashed on the ground. Link: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...48330664312518 |

Re: Glass Floor Elevator in Bali Plunges 5 to Their Deaths
Have spent considerable time in Bali, including Ubud, I can attest that most places there are shit unless they're owned by an actual brand company. They hide behind beautiful pictures and a face of being well-kept but this doesn't surprise me at all because under the surface, nothing is maintained well. The famous Waterbom park is just constantly on the edge of seeing deaths if it hasn't already. The beauty of the nature of Bali that is surrounding everything and the facade of these resorts at face-value makes everyone forget this is still a 3rd world country. I legit went to a place that looked wonderful in the pictures, and the dumbshits who were leaving as I arrived were swooning how great the resort was to the staff, but I got into my villa and red flags were everywhere if you bother looking. The private pool was a death trap for sure - unless you don't mind the possibility of being electrocuted due to poor seals and loose wiring, among other issues I found. So yeah, the forest was gorgeous, but I left before staying the night and didn't look back. For reference, my personal story above was at Adiwana Dara Ayu in the private double villa seen below. Google pictures and they'd make you want to stay there too...but don't. |

Re: Glass Floor Elevator in Bali Plunges 5 to Their Deaths
The hotel workers were travelling in the elevator at Ubud’s Ayuterra Resort about 1pm on Friday, as seen in the video above, when a cable snapped, sending the elevator plummeting 100m to the ground. The three women and two men were in the glass outdoor lift that runs on a track up a 35-degree slope when it failed. Two of the staff died at the scene, while three more died in hospital. The victims have been identified by local media as S.P.B.A.K, 19, W. A. S, 23, N. L. S, 20, K. H, 24, and K.Y.P, 19. An investigation into what caused the cable to snap has been launched. However, preliminary investigations revealed the cable may have broken as the lift was too heavy. It is possible that the steel cable was not strong enough to pull the load and the safety wedge or brake does not work. Resort owner Linggawati Utomo later expressed her condolences to the victims’ families. “All costs for funeral rites and burial will be borne by us. We will also give the families some compensation,” she said. |
