There has been a big explosion in Boksburg city of South Africa. This explosion took place in a gas tanker. According to the information received so far, 20 41 people have lost their lives in this. It is being told that this explosion happened due to gas leak after the gas tanker got stuck in an underpass.

Boxberg is a town on the East Rand in the Gauteng province of South Africa. A huge explosion occurred after a gas truck crashed in Boksburg on Saturday morning.

The blast took place on Hospital Road, a few meters away from OR Tambo Memorial Hospital. The truck is being told of LP gas. After the fire in OR Tambo Hospital, there was chaos among the patients.

The Boksburg explosion took place on 24 December 2022, when a fuel tanker carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) exploded underneath a railway bridge in Boksburg, in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality in Gauteng, South Africa,with a death toll of 41 people as of 18 January 2023. The nearby Tambo Memorial Hospital was also damaged.


The truck belonged to Infinite Transport, part of the Sasolburg-based Infinite Group, and was carrying 60 000 litres (15 850 gal) of LPG from the Port of Richards Bay to Botswana. The driver was employed by Innovative Staffing Solutions (ISS), a Boksburg-based outsourcing company that provides staff on contract to other companies.

According to his employer, on the morning of 24 December 2022, having spent the night at a nearby truck stop, the 32 year-old driver allegedly took the wrong exit[clarification needed] onto the N17 freeway.

According to the report of an internal investigation by ISS, he quickly realised his mistake and tried to exit the freeway[clarification needed] to return to his route; the freeway exit he used directed him under a railway bridge spanning Hospital Street near its intersection with Railway Street, about 100 metres (328 ft) from the Tambo Memorial Hospital in the Boksburg suburb of Plantation.

That was pretty explosive and being that close... Bet that radiant heat was easily felt.. luckily the blast was contained being wedged in the underpass. You can see the blast in 2 directions
