Having worked in a factory as a young man, on your first day on the job they escort you around and explain the meaning of the lines on the ground (egress, restricted areas, etc). In this case, this lane is reserved for equipment. Should the load have better secured? yes, but standing there and paying no attention whatsoever sure as hell didn't help?
