That isn't tighter laws or harder to get, it means your can't own them at all ever again. That is banning and prohibition, not regulating. American gun enthusiasts don't want your stupid single shot antiques and duck guns.

As to why sonmuch resistance? Machine guns were regulated since 1934. Registered machine guns were never ever used in murders or crime in general (like 1 case of illegal unregistered machine guns). Problem solved right? Nope, still effectively banned them anyway in 1986.

We dont trust regulation and gun laws after that. Never again. Never. Ever.

So what is your solution to this problem, how do you prevent more atrocities from occurring?? I asked you before...let's put you in power for a while. What's the plan to stop Sandy Hook, Stoneman Douglas, Columbine, Las Vegas, I could go on and on and on and on ad infinitum and each time innocent children are murdered and yet you defend the 2nd amendment. Eliminate Democrat control of schools and media allowing and encouraging the values and poverty and lack of self reliance that lead to that lifestyle.

Eliminate the stigma against mental health so people can get it without their life and record being permanently stained.

It took 40+ years to get here, it's not going away over night.

I don't label people as tyrannical but I don't share your views. Here is what I would do overnight;

1. Complete ban of AR-15 and other assault weapons with large magazines.
2. 90 day checks (mental health and criminal background checks)

Now...I'm no expert in US gun laws, quite the opposite but surely the sight of little children being gunned down is abhorrent to everyone, why wouldn't the government look at this...oh wait...I know...the NRA!!

Your first fallacy is that you believe you'll always be able to prevent everything. You won't. Not without making people like The Matrix or adopting Minority Report pre crime.

Would be a lot easier to fix whatever makes people do things to begin with so they're is nothing to prevent.

We allowed third world bravado and machisimo to run unchecked for too long. Everybody is all about big egos and asserting dominance and making sure their dick is on top at all costs.

You can't even go to the grocery store in the US without someone rolling up on you with a obnoxious fart exhaust all smug and wanting to race you to the end of the merge. Then if they lose because your car is faster they try to shoot you.

Problem runs much deeper than guns.

I will say though I have many years of weapon sysyem engineering under my belt and if gun confiscation comes to pass in the US and Im a walking dead man we are going to see a sudden rise of autononous defense weapons to make gun bans completely unenforceable.

Second Amendment protects our country from totalitarian Gov takeover. Only a fool believes history does not repeat. The current feral, social media culture has created perception that suicidal people best share their pain via mass murder, on their last day on earth. That is what we are dealing with - it is a mental health driven crisis enabled by social media. Taking away one particular weapon will not change this mental health/social problem.

US can not and shall not forfeit its Constitution to react to a social-mental health crisis. We will deal with this plague on our own terms.
