The tank fired a sabot round into the bank near the same proximity of where the guy on the left was hiding. At a glance, from the blast trajectory on the video, it is highly doubtful that he survived. He would have been riddled with rocks and torn apart from the energy.

That hill absorbed a lot of the explosion. The shrapnel it created fanned out behind the burm and you can see them impacting in the ground as well.

The guy on the right, was smart enough to act quickly while the mask of dust/debris gave him some cover to run the fuck out of there.
