The sound you hear is most likely just the sonic boom from the projectile. Its much quieter than the muzzle report. Due to the fact half his mellon flew out the back I would say this was more along the lines of a 7.62x54R from a sniper rifle. No AK-47 in existence is accurate enough to make a long distance head shot like that. The best part is had he fired that RPG like he planned he would have most likely killed himself and the camera man with the back blast...

Considering the FSA are fighting the Syrian Goverment don't you think they have better weapons? An Ak-47 can hold 7.62 rounds, heck pretty much any automatic rifle can be calibrated in that way. Lucky shot? I do think it was shot by a sniper rifle though, like you said. I don't think the exhaust would have killed them though, probably burnt them or something non-lethal like that.
