Seriously it was a massive stockpile of ammonium nitrate that had been seized 5 years ago and left in cargo holding with other seized items like fireworks. This is what we call in the civilised world.. A recipe for disaster!

This was in the Netherlands in 2000, a fireworks explosion, 2 explosions actually. But its small when you look at the Beirut explosion. First explosion 1:42 and 2:28 second bigger one 3:27: Aftermath    |

The main explosion was linked to approximately 2,750 tonnes (3,030 short tons) of ammonium nitrate that had been confiscated by the government from an abandoned ship and stored in the port without proper safety measures for the previous six years. No terrorists, no jews, just ignorance and improper storage. Same thing that happens with all ammonium nitrate accidents. |
