Runaway tyre knocks woman off Chinese highway
A carsick woman was resting by the side of the road when a lorry’s wheel bounced down the hard shoulder and catapulted her over the crash barrier.

Bizarre CCTV footage has emerged of a loose tyre flying down a road and hitting a woman standing next to a parked car - sending her flying off the side of the highway.

Shu Fang Chiu, 45, was standing on the hard shoulder after apparently stopping for some fresh air when she was hit.

The footage, taken from CCTV, shows her catapulted forward over the crash barrier. She was later rescued, alive but with several fractured bones.

The incident happened on the Hangzhou Expressway over the city of Hangzhou in eastern China’s Zhejiang province.

The driver Chan Lung reported the incident to police, saying that he had let his passenger out of the car because she was feeling nauseous and needed some fresh air. Out of nowhere, the passenger and the car’s front right door were struck by a large rolling wheel, he said.

The woman was recovered nine metres off the highway when the shocked driver climbed out of his vehicle to find out what had just happened.

She was recovered by emergency services and taken to hospital.

Traffic cameras show that the giant wheel came loose from a passing lorry, whose driver said that he noticed the wheel coming loose, but he didn’t have enough time to warn the driver and the woman before the wheel struck.

Footage shows how the wheel seems to pass under the lorry before coming out on the other side and then hitting the woman after nudging the side of the crash barrier.

Police are investigating to see whether the truck driver should bear any responsibility for the accident.

Since she lived and I'm going to hell anyway, I felt safe laughing...each time it replayed.

As horrible as that was for her, it was like she was a bowling pin...what are the odds of that happening.

To send her over the barrier like that it hit her very hard and she continued to roll down the hill after you could see bushes move

Yea the weight of a spinning wheel/tire at 60 mph can turn a wheel weighing 60 lb into a force of 5000lb+

What i posted was the actual news report about her on that country by their news people. they said she survived, so she survived. it probably just knocked her aside. it was said she was sick so she's limp and it probably helped absorb some of the impact.
