They probably did something fairly harmless, like spill a drink or drop some small change by mistake. No point killing them for that, the mess takes so long to clean up.

The girl on the left was even barfing from fear before hand. It reminds me a little of that Jungle-conking video from last year. What I've always found most explicit and appealing about that video is the way you can actually see the moment she realizes that she's about to die wash over her face.
