A 22-year-old medical student's body was found in the Patratu dam in Jharkhand's Ramgarh district with her hands and legs tied, police said on Wednesday.

The body of the woman, a student of the Hazaribagh Medical College, was spotted on Tuesday by locals who then informed the police, they said.

A Special Investigation Team has been constituted with officers from Ramgarh and Hazaribagh police to investigate the matter from all angles, including the possibility of rape.

Police suspect that it is likely that the woman went to the Lake Resort, along the dam, with her friends as it is a popular picnic destination, officials said. She was thrown into the dam with her legs and hands tied with ropes, they said.

A bag was also found near the spot, police said. The distraught family was being informed about the incident and they told police that they could not believe that such an incident could happen.

The college authorities said that she was seen on the campus till Monday morning and left for Ranchi around 9 am that day.

A dead body of a young woman has been found this morning from Patratu Dam in Ramgarh district on Tuesday morning. The girl's arms and legs are tied. On Tuesday morning, the boatmen saw the young woman's body floating over the dam.

The woman's age is around 29-30 years. A pittu bag has also been recovered from the place where the girl's body has been found. This bag contains food items, plastic rope and some other items. From this, it is speculated that the girl must have come to visit here. It may also happen that the corpse has been thrown into the dam after killing him elsewhere.

The police is investigating every aspect in the case. It is feared that he may have been raped. However, this will be confirmed by post mortem report only. The girl was wearing jeans and a woolen jacket. Both his hands and feet were tied with different ropes. There is a hotel right next to the place where the woman's body was recovered in the dam.

Looks to me that her feet were bound to allow her to walk but not run. Her hands bound in front would have helped with walking.

Not much info if she went there with her friends how did she seperate from them? Or did she.
