I'm afraid they are phrasing things FIGURATIVELY! The guy has been HITTING that for a month or more, but he only SHOT her twice! It's a matter of syntax, and slang. And, just how long does it take to unlock your car door, and get inside? She was doing underwater Tai Chi there, it looked like!
