Fatal Head-on Collision in Tunnel Caused by Drunk Driver
It was established that a 33-year-old driver was driving a rented Haval car while intoxicated. He drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided head-on with an Opel, driven by a 22-year-old man who died on the spot as a result of the accident. A criminal case was opened for violating traffic rules, which negligently resulted in the death of a person. The materials were sent to the court for consideration on the merits, reports the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Sochi. The accident occurred in road tunnel No. 2 towards Krasnaya Polyana. The driver of the Haval car was moving from the village of Krasnaya Polyana. The fatal accident occurred on August 31, 2023 in one of the Krasnopolyansk tunnels. The accused now faces up to 12 years in prison. |

The Opel’s airbag deployed so he didn’t crash through the windshield and I’m guessing didn’t hit the windshield either. He did end up getting smashed against the steering wheel at over 100 mph at impact considering the two vehicles speed traveling in opposite directions.  |
