Police do not have the responsibility to protect you. The idea that police have a duty to protect individual citizens is a common misconception, police are not responsible to save you or protect you. It is up to the individual to protect themselves, not the police. It never has and never will. The supreme court has ruled in many different cases, including 1989 DeShaney v. Winnebago.  |
