The Las Cruces Police Department released on Friday surveillance footage and video from a body camera worn by Officer J. H. that captured the violent attack that resulted in H's death on Feb. 11. 2024

H. responded to a trespassing call at 355 South Valley Drive at the intersection with Amador Avenue, where he was stabbed to death by 29-year-old A. S.

LCPD Chief Jeremy Story presented the video before outlining steps he believes Las Cruces and New Mexico need to take in order to make Las Cruces a safer community.

"I said previously that I will not let Jonah's death be in vain and I am committed to that statement," Story said. "I will not stop until we see the change that makes Las Cruces and New Mexico safer."

Story said LCPD had received numerous IPRA requests for the video footage, leading to the press conference on Friday at City Hall.

"I wanted to at least do it (make the video public) myself and explain what I could related to it," Story said. "I'm biased, but I feel like that is the worst video I've watched in my life and I've seen a lot of bad videos. It has broken a lot of people and a lot of my officers and staff."

However, due to the fact that, according to your own words, you reside within a man's body—I must regretfully choose to love you from a considerable distance.

Without see the actual autopsy report and just from what i can see in videos and based off my own experience as medic in the military and as paramedic in civ life and of course not knowing his approx weight i can only guess but..... with the multiple stab wounds to the neck and jugular vein he would a class 4 hemorrhage trauma patient. patients with class 4 hemorrhage frequently require rapid transfusion and immediate surgical intervention .other words this means he lost 40+ percent of his blood in his body in short amount of time so nothing that cop or civ could have done was gonna save this officer life.
