A resident of Siak Riau died allegedly attacked by a tiger

20th April 2023, Indonesia, Siak, Riau (ANTARA) – A resident of the Village of Rempak Village, Siak District, Riau Province, A.S. was found dead with his head separated from his body allegedly attacked by a tiger while harvesting sap on his land in Kampung (village) Tumang.

The Head of the Siak Resort Police, AKBP Ronald Sumaja confirmed Thursday night that there was an incident where a resident was allegedly attacked by a wild animal, but could not confirm that the death was due to a tiger attack.

“Yes, there was an incident but it has not been confirmed by the tiger,” he said.

Residents suspect that the victim was attacked by a tiger because there were claw marks and traces of being dragged by a wild animal for approximately 700 meters. Meanwhile, pants and pieces of clothing were separated by 200 meters from the victim. Regarding this incident, the police have contacted the Riau Conservation and Natural Resources Center for further action.

The Police Chief said that at 16.00 WIB his staff at the Siak Sector Police received the information. The Siak Police Chief ordered Siak Police Unit IK Aipda Frison, IK Panit Bripka Willy FN, Bhabinkamtibmas Kampung Rempak Bripka Nofrianto to go down to the scene.

Based on the information obtained from the witness, it is known that at 10.00 WIB the victim and his mother went to the area. They both used motorbikes with the aim of harvesting rubber and palm oil.

At 14.00 WIB the two of them were still in the garden far apart but could still be heard talking. Half an hour later when his mother took him home the victim answered, but after waiting he never showed up.

Her mother also searched and to her surprise she only found scattered shoes and blood. Her mother was scared and ran out of the garden and walked to her house on Jalan Kwalian to tell her husband.
