Famous Dominican Singer Found Dead in His Home in Santo Domingo

International media reported this afternoon the death of Dominican singer Sandy Carriello at the age of 48. During the 90s the artist was part of the successful musical duo known as Sandy & Papo.

According to the Colombian media Caracol , the singer was found dead at his home in ~~New York City~~ the city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic . Apparently he died of a heart attack.

The news was also confirmed by a musician named Mariano Lantigua, vocalist of the Aljadaqui group and close to Sandy's family, who maintained that the artist was alone at home when he died.

Another artist, named Rufino Santos, fired the vocalist through his social networks, noting that now he could join his friend Luis Deschamps, known as "Papo."

“Rest in peace dear friend Sandy Adalberto Carrillo Rojas (1972-2020) May God welcome you into his holy bosom. Now you will be able to sing with papo from heaven, he explained.

Carriello and Deschamps met in the United States in 1994 and a year later formed the iconic urban music group, which had hits such as Sexy Girl, It's Time to Dance and El alacrán.

However, the success ended abruptly in 1999, when "Papo" died in his native Santo Domingo after the car he was transporting crashed into a tree.

As expected, this led to the group ending permanently.

The couple had performed at the Viña del Mar Festival just that year, at the peak of their career, making the entire Quinta Vergara dance with their hits.

After the death of his partner Sandy he continued his career as a soloist, releasing in 2000 an album in tribute to his partner. In 2005, he released another work known as El Duro Soy Yo.
