Lane splitting is illegal here and everywhere else in NA with the exception of maybe Cali. This is probably the reason why.

Sorry, but that was a stupid move on the motorcyclist's part, a lot of times I see them with jackets and helmets that say "Watch out for motorcycles", yet they feel the laws of traffic that apply to cars don't apply to them.
