Yes, that is true, it happens immediately after beheading.

Re: Facial Expression on Decapitated Head Changes

I think he was conscious and his expression was trying to say, "Fuck you assholes."

Re: Facial Expression on Decapitated Head Changes

It's real. The head can still control the facial nerves and I reckon rubbing the split spinal cord against the shirt is extremely painful. It has been suggested the head can still be alive anywhere from a few seconds to a full minute after beheading
During the French revolution (when the guillotine was getting a workout) they actually did studies of a sort on this. Yes, they did sometimes see changes in the expressions of the beheaded for a brief period after their execution. It makes sense since the brain doesn't shut down instantly. It takes a few seconds after it is deprived of oxygenated blood.

The more I watch this site the more I realize that the concept of instant death is probably not real.

The small part of your brain where your consciousness prevails gets enough sugar and oxygen to go through the strangest darkness and psychedelic trip you can ever imagine. Possibly the ones people see with DMT.

The most famous experiment was conducted in 1905 by Dr. Beaurieux of France, who was granted permission to experiment on the head of Henri Languille. His observations were recorded in his journal:

Here is what I was able to note immediately after the decapitation: the eyelids and lips of the decapitated man worked in irregularly rhythmic contractions for about 4 or 6 seconds. I waited several seconds longer. The spasmodic movements ceased. The face relaxed, the lids half-closed in the eyeballs, leaving only the white of the conjunctiva visible, exactly as in the dying whom we have occasion to see every day.

It was then that I called in a strong, sharp, voice: 'Languille!' I then saw the eyelids slowly lift up, without any spasmodic contraction -- I insist advisedly on this pecularity -- but with an even movement, quite distinct and normal, such as happens in everyday life, with people awakened or torn from their thoughts.

Next, Languille's eyes very definitely fixed themselves on mine and the pupils focused themselves. I was not, then, dealing with a vague dull look, without any expression that can be observed any day in dying people to whom one speaks:

I was dealing with undeniably living eyes which were looking at me.
He repeated this process two more times, with Languille responding similarly the second time, but showing no response to the third.

Re: Facial Expression on Decapitated Head Changes

Maybe a nerve twitch but.. the jaw goes slack/limp when you die. So I think the pressure of him pushing the head down is simply moving the jaw forward.
i would have freaked out if i was there and punched the head for good measure to ensure it didn't twitch again

I don't believe this story - full color hi resolution video of this or gtfo...
j/k i've read this account before. fascinating. I don't think for a minute that the head and personality instantly dies. the brain is certainly churning out final thoughts as the blood drains

Re: Facial Expression on Decapitated Head Changes

It looks real, just as the video says, you have about 30 seconds of consciousness left before it all goes black forever.

Re: Facial Expression on Decapitated Head Changes

Probably a reaction from the nerves, but not anything that was done consciously.
Agonal breathing, only happening in the head as the nerves to the upper body are obviously severed.
