They were probably drafted into the military. Who has a real choice in war? The first one to get shot looked very young, somebody's son.

Hmm. I think if it was Operation Valkyrie, we would have known by now or have it verified? But any other nazi spies being executed in 1944???

The germans had 'spies', I think during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944. They were in US uniforms, spoke english and were sent forward to give bad orders, create confusion, change road signs and such. Some of them were caught and shot as spies, that might be this film footage. BTW, several of them died chanting "Heill Hitler"
