For those who are wondering if Muslims are suddenly practicing Christianity, there seems to be a gross ignorance of understanding history.

The most obvious point is why would Christians be practicing crucifixion (and crucifying themselves) in the first place? (In other words, how are Christians practicing Christianity through crucifixion?)

Crucifixion was used as a means of mocking Christians for their belief in a savior who died on the cross. It was initiated by the Romans against this "upstart new religion" of the time as punishment.

Anyway, the Quran and haddiths prescribe crucifixion for those who fight against Allah and his prophet. (This could also apply between the different sects of Islam fighting each other since each believes they represent the true Islam.)

For anyone interested, prior to Jesus' death on the cross and crucifixion being associated with Christianity, the actual method had started much earlier and had not been associated with Christians specifically. The main point was to humiliate and cause as much pain as possible.

Here is a brief note:
"In antiquity, crucifixion was considered one of the most brutal and shameful modes of death. Probably originating with the Assyrians and Babylonians, it was used systematically by the Persians in the 6th century BC. Alexander the Great brought it from there to the eastern Mediterranean countries in the 4th century BC, and the Phoenicians introduced it to Rome in the 3rd century BC. It was virtually never used in pre-Hellenic Greece. The Romans perfected crucifion for 500 years until it was abolished by Constantine I in the 4th century AD. Crucifixion in Roman times was applied mostly to slaves, disgraced soldiers, Christians and foreigners--only very rarely to Roman citizens."

** side-note: Constantine I most probably outlawed crucifixion since he was the first emperor to install Christianity as the state religion.

Fact check, crucifixion actually originated as a wooden stake with the victims arms above their head and their hands nailed together, one ontop of the other. Same with the feet.
It was never a cross until later when the catholic church church depicted it as one.
