Re: Examined After Exhumation

This is actually a common practice and is usually ordered by the courts when the manner of death, regardless of past findings, is in question. I've seen mummified bodies re-examend because of a suspicious D.A. However, this video, whether only a short clip of an investigation, or for educational purpose, more than likely the latter, is kind of ant-intuitive. For one the body lacks eye pads, (no pun intended), and other common postmortem artifacts commonly associated with the "gold standard," of modern embalming. Also palpation of the abdomen can get kind of messy when a trochar hole is present, basically a hole that a mortician creates to inject your viscera with embalming fluid. Anyway, the cloudy appearance of the eyes is normal and usually happens within a day after death. My underpaid and green opinion is that the body is 2-4 days post death, probably because, as noted before, an ongoing investigation. This should have been done in a secure environment to prevent the loss of evidence.
