Brazil, Last Wednesday a 28 year old man took his own life in the late morning while driving his car toward his house.

He committed suicide after violently assaulting his wife, who was found severely injured inside the residence of the couple. She was sent to hospital with a disfigured face but wasn't shot.

According to preliminary police information, the man was alone in the car and while driving he fired a revolver into his mouth causing immediate death.

The gun fell on the floor inbetween his feet. Mortally wounded, the man lost control of the car, which ran off the road and crashed into a building.

Preliminary information indicates that he was separated from his wife for only a few days but that morning he took the woman from her parents' house and took her to the ex couple's home.

There he physically assaulted her and then went to the city but after returning to the house he took his own life.

Police who found the injured woman alone and injured inside.

The couple has two young children, who are at the home of his paternal grandfather. Information from people close to the young man told that he was very moved emotionally after the marital problems he faced.

Love agonal breathing it's such an odd thing, if I came across this dude and didn't know what he was doing id probably think he was still alive, it always sounds like they're doing proper deep breaths

I've never seen it audible like that before. He can't be fully dead yet surely? It's a reflex but the body trying to breathe surely?

Agonal respiration, gasping respiration or agonal breathing is an abnormal pattern of breathing and brainstem reflex characterized by gasping, labored breathing, accompanied by strange vocalizations and myoclonus.

Possible causes include cerebral ischemia, extreme hypoxia or even anoxia. Agonal breathing is an extremely serious medical sign requiring immediate medical attention, as the condition generally progresses to complete apnea and heralds death.

The duration of agonal respiration can be as brief as two breaths or last up to several hours.

The term is sometimes (inaccurately) used to refer to labored, gasping breathing patterns accompanying organ failure (e.g. liver failure and renal failure), SIRS, septic shock, and metabolic acidosis (see Kussmaul breathing, or in general any labored breathing, including Biot's respirations and ataxic respirations).

Correct usage would restrict the term to the last breaths before death.

Agonal respirations are also commonly seen in cases of cardiogenic shock or cardiac arrest where agonal respirations may persist for several minutes after cessation of heartbeat.

The presence of agonal respirations in these cases indicates a more favorable prognosis than in cases of cardiac arrest without agonal respirations.

In an unresponsive, pulseless patient in cardiac arrest, agonal gasps are not effective breaths.

Agonal respiration occurs in 40% of cardiac arrests experienced outside a hospital environment.

Agonal respiration is not the same as, and is unrelated to, the phenomenon of death rattle.

There's a really good video on here somewhere of this guy that's got a fucked up face and is laying on a table in a hospital (I presume) and does some really loud ones, sounds like the noise/gasp someone would make when they see something shocking haha
