Engineer Student Jumps from 187 Meters High Cairo Tower
Quasr al-Nile police station received a report from the staff of the Cairo Tower stating that an Egyptian youth committed suicide after throwing himself from the top of the tower. Immediately, a security force moved to the scene. The Zamalek region in the Egyptian capital Cairo on Saturday evening witnessed a tragic story where an engineer student committed suicide. According to workers at the tower, which is 187 meters high, the young man ascended to the last floor with his friend, then surprised everyone and threw himself from the top. He died on the spot, while the authorities reserved his friend and interrogated him to uncover the circumstances of the incident and find out the cause of suicide. Al-Siddiq said that the suicide young man suffers from a severe psychological crisis, and that he went out with him to try to get him out of his condition, but he was oblivious and threw himself from the tower to put an end to his life. In addition, the prosecution decided to autopsy the body, and demanded the security services to intensify their efforts to uncover the mystery of the incident. |

I had just come across this + was going to post it here, haha! Those poor people are going to be traumatised for life. I know that when people commit suicide, they aren't thinking rationally but I wish they would do it privately + spare others having to witness it.

His pal will blame himself for not doing enough to stop it, not that he could have. |

Well, he considered giving him a gas can and matches, and also a free toaster for his bath time, but, ya know, shopping is such a drag......

Re: Engineer Student Jumps from 187 Meters High Cairo Tower
This is a tough on to calculate. I’m giving him a weight of 75kg (165 pounds) and the stated height he jumped from of 187m (613 feet). He fell for a little over 6 seconds with an impact speed of 217km/h (134 MPH). If you notice the guy watching him after he jumps he watches for a little over 4 seconds before he turns away. So either the height is off or my weight calculation is off. Possibly he got himself in a pencil like position to aid in less aerodynamic forces acting on his fall. I dunno. Either way he went splat. |
