Electrocuted Retrieving Kite from Power Lines
A youth died after being electrocuted while flying a kite on the roof of a house in Savar's Ashulia. Ashulia Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Masood Al Mamun confirmed the death of a youth on Tuesday (March 28) afternoon. Earlier, the incident took place at Haji Anwar Hossain's house in Ashulia's Kurgaon Bakery Lane area on Monday evening. The deceased Md. Hossain son of Md. Mintu of Kurgaon area. He lived with his family in a rented house. Locals said that in the afternoon, Shishu Hossain went flying around on the roof of the house. At one point, the youth got electrocuted while trying to untie it when the spinning wheel got stuck in the wire of the electricity transmission line near the roof. He then hangs on the line wire for a while and then falls down. Later he was rescued and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died in the night. After the postmortem, the body was handed over to his family in the morning. Meanwhile, the locals complained and said that the owner of a multi-storied building named Anwar Hossain has constructed the house without following the building law. High-rise buildings have been constructed dangerously near power poles. Even the entire roof was unprotected. No railings were constructed. Ashulia police station (SI) Masood Al Mamun said that the body has been handed over to the family after post-mortem. Besides, the matter of unprotected house has been informed to the superior officer. Legal decision in this regard is under process. |
