Just going off being American, here. But, maybe be proactive? Wave, get the driver's attention, don't walk so close, go further out, as the driver don't start going like that in such close quarters? Idk, I'm just a female American, idiot.

Kudos to the lady for lifting up that icky pile of tenderized-by-a-truck meat and moving it to the sidewalk. I wouldn't have for fear of getting viscera all over my new duds. That stuff's hard to get out.
