Elderly Couple Crushed by Car Wash Employee
(MY FIRST VIDEO POST AND TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO POST IT) A 90-year-old retired NYPD lieutenant who was injured in a Brooklyn car-wash horror died of his injuries Tuesday — on what would have been his 65th wedding anniversary. Frank Tornabene and his wife, Joan, 85, were pulling out of the Marine Park car wash in their Honda Accord on May 1 when a worker driving a Jeep SUV at the business rear-ended them. When the couple got out to inspect the damage, the panicked worker backed up into a building before suddenly accelerating forward, hitting them both. Joan Tornabene died at the scene. Her critically injured husband lingered till Tuesday, when he died at the hospital, law-enforcement sources said. The Marine Park Funeral Home told that Frank died on what would have been the couple’s 65th wedding anniversary. Joan Tornabene’s funeral had been scheduled for Wednesday but was postponed so the couple can be buried together. Police are still investigating the crash. |
