Re: "Either He Dies, or I Die" The Prophetic Words of Duk Koo Kim Vs Ray Mancini
You might be right, I've played & participated in quite a few but nothing is as intense as getting into a ring...... The training that goes into preparing for a bout is unequalled. I can see where your coming from, and at the pro level it is very dangerous mainly because some people put money ahead of safety. At the amateur level its very rare for someone to get hurt, fights are stopped over a bloody nose sometimes..... Nobody is profiting from an amateur fight. A lot of clubs allow recreational members to come in and train, without getting hit or feeling intimidated....... You'd get to go through the workouts, learn some skills and see firsthand what is being instilled in youth that box..... You should consider it, you might change your opinion. |

Re: "Either He Dies, or I Die" The Prophetic Words of Duk Koo Kim Vs Ray Mancini
Why dont you ask Joe Frazier if he would have rather worked the mule on his parents crop sharing farm in South Carolina instead of made millions from boxing? Better yet why dont you ask his children and grandchildren what they would have rather had dad and gramps do to make a living? When his son Marvis wanted to box the first thing his dad said was "I took all the lumps and worked my ass off so that YOU and your sisters wouldnt have to!" Lots of good has come from boxing |

He definitely died a warrior's death. I would almost be willing to bet that if could have chosen his death it would have been in the ring doing what he loved to do.

Great post I love boxing and I loved ray mancini. I don't want anyone to die but I don't find it sad at all. I think all fighters no the risk and in my opinion the best ones never quit.

Yep, its a way to make something out of nothing...... There would be a lot less violence in the streets if young men with nothing to do would keep it in a ring. Boxing is a brotherhood, it saves lives. |
