I think boxing is one of the stupidest sports. *shakes head* Seriously, how could shit like this EVER have a good outcome for the participants?

I agree. I think it's stupid as well.

If they still have the brain, it can be sent to MA for studies.

Get rich and suffer brain damage quickly!

My heart is pounding to be part of it! NOT!

This is why I refuse to watch boxing, kickboxing, cage matches....and why does this remind me of Apollo Creed versus Ivan Drago in Rocky IV....

It definately wasnt anyones fault. Kim made the decision to either win or die and he kept his word. I choose to remember that honorable trait. Because of that I dont see it as a tragedy. He gave 110% and you got to respect that.

But look at the ripple effect though...two other people needlessly died in the aftermath.

You could say the same about skydiving, competitive eating, or a million other extreme sports.

At the amateur level the positive outcomes are responsibility, disipline, work ethic, learning to conquer fear and adversity, and the basic life principle that you'll only get out of it what you put into it...... Anything you do in life after getting into a ring will seem easy in comparison, anything.
There are a lot of people from really tough backgrounds that learned life skills from boxing that they wouldn't have gotten anywhere else.

I feel bad for the mother, but the referee knew the potential outcome when he signed up for the job...... Everybody who gets in a ring or watches a fight might see a death..... But nobody is forced to do anything.

Re: "Either He Dies, or I Die" The Prophetic Words of Duk Koo Kim Vs Ray Mancini

The good side of humanity at work!!!
It's hard for homo sapiens to kill one of their own, even the guilt of not doing something to avoid another person's death could be enough to bring an unsurmountable amount of guilt to anyone.

sad, sad, sad

Part of my point is they shouldnt have blamed themselves like that. I dont think Kim would want anyone to be blamed. I guess thats what im trying to get across.

And I *DO* say that about other extreme sports. LOL

I suppose you may have a point, though I think there are probably much less risky activities that can bring out the same qualities.
