Re: Dying While Eaten by Maggots
No. Common misconception. There are many types of maggots in the world. Most of them will eat living flesh. The type of maggots that are used by doctors to clean wounds are ‘medically clean’ maggots that are grown in a laboratory and shipped to the hospital. They are not “wild” maggots and would only be obtained by having them applied and wrapped into a wound at the hospital. These medical maggots will only eat the dead flesh, which is why this type is used in wound care. Think about it, why would a doctor leave wild maggots in a wound? Maggots that were laid there by a fly/flies with many diseases, the maggots themselves carry and cause disease, not to mention they cause tissue death by eating living flesh! |
