Re: Dying Traffic Accident Victim in the Back of a Pick-up Truck
LMAO.... Um no airway control, bleeding, or shock measures taken at all. Transferring the patient onto the gurney, "face down"... WTF is that shit???? He did a nice "facer" into something. Massive facial trauma.. That will also include head and C-Spine precautions as well.. Don't know the extent of the other injuries. By his paradoxical breathing, looks like he is circling the drain.. Really simple things to remember if ever having to transport a person in the back of a truck and you are the first responder with little to no medical gear or experience: 1. Establish and maintain patent airway. (supine position- on back). If the patient is throwing up blood or vomit, roll them on their side and assist as needed, still maintaining the airway. If the face is severely traumatized and the airway is compromised, you might be fucked!!! But if you absolutely have to.. There is a space in the center of the adams apple called the cricothyroid membrane.. Make a small incision and put a patent tube in place to open the airway.. 2. Control the major bleeding via; direct pressure, pressure points, tourniquets. If you don't have dressings to control the bleeding, use clothing like t-shirts, sweaters..If you are in a bind (Hostile environment) and got to get the fuck out of there.. Pack dirt in the wound as a tactical temporary measure to control the bleeding and jam the fuck out.. If the wound is facial, dont do the dirt application.. 3. Treat for shock. Keep legs elevated above heart. Keep patient warm with a blanket if possible. 4. Transport to nearest Emergency Dept.. |

Re: Dying Traffic Accident Victim in the Back of a Pick-up Truck
I have held the hands of those who are dying, and I always feel honoured to be there when their last breath has been taken. Its someone's life that you have witnessed ending, something not to be taken lightly.
