i would rather think of him as somewhat knowing man. i think he knew a bit of CPR and he knows thumping the chest is one way of keeping his heart beating and keep him alive. and he seems to keep doing it as if its the only thing that could make him survive. and then there's the rubbing of scalp to make blood flow in his brains to keep himself from becoming brain dead. his action seems to be on full auto in connection with what he used to know.
