Leningrad region. The 52-year-old trucker did not survive this. The 33-year-old excavator operator was detained and a case was opened under the article “violation of safety rules during other work, resulting in the death of a person through negligence".

Probably not murder, unless he planned it or got pissed because the truck left too soon or the trucker fucked his wife. The truck driver is in a possible blind spot of the excavator operator and drives forward as the scoop swings back to the truck. Bad timing or operator error. Would it be safe procedure to keep the scoop elevated when turning to prevent hitting things? I know nothing about earth moving equipment.

I'm in Mensa and drove, and built, forklifts for a large part of my career. My family was horrified when I dropped out of education to do logistics and engineering, but it's about doing what you love isn't it.

Bit of a mensch myself. I understand. Regular people who have never fork lift jousted have no idea the ultimate adrenaline rush. Jousting is like being in the "Nam, you do the job while young because you had to, but never get over the excitement. Some guys seek violent senseless deaths as mercenaries in God forsaken places like Rhodesia or Falkland Islands (don't ask) or graduate to giant quarry truck demolition derbys...
