Re: Drowning Victims of Flood in Kelantan, Malaysia
For sure, I'm going to say it is an impossibly strong undercurrent. But I also don't understand drowning. People splash around and come up to the surface numerous times. Could be the epiglottis spasms and blocks the airway?

Re: Drowning Victims of Flood in Kelantan, Malaysia
Allow me to enlighten you. The lack of swimming ability is the norm, not the exception, in third world countries. Most people, in fact, do require lessons in order to learn how to swim and folks in poor countries routinely don't have access to them. I speak from experience, having spent a considerable amount of time, as well as getting married, in the "third world".
