I still remember the old 8 compressions and then 2 breaths technique they taught in the military back in the 1960's. I wonder if the modern methods are any better. It's not like anyone comes back from the dead and tells you: "Hey, if you'd only done a 5 to 1 ratio I'd still be alive."
