Drowned Immigrant Stuck by Tree Branches in River

In a dense, roadless region of jungle and swampland that forms the natural border between Central America and South America and in this case the border between Panama and Colombia called the darian gap other immigrants came across a drowned Venezuelan immigrant that was drowned and got stuck in the branches of a tree that fell into a river.

Guy filming says something like: we all want the American dream, and look what happens, look at the boy.

It appears that the water was shallow enough to walk across. Not a fast current either. Something’s fishy.

That guy with the detached ears on the last frame would almost be worthy of changing my avatar. Almost.

They're not going to find the American Dream anywhere near the Darian Gap.

That place is no joke, I was there in 09 doing some advisory work for counter drug ops and personnel recovery. I can only imagine how many more folks are swallowed up in the jungle never to seen again.

Re: Drowned Immigrant Stuck by Tree Branches in River

In the 1960s, Chevrolet sponsored two Corvair expeditions. In 1960 to drive from Chicago to Panama and in 1961 to cross the Darién Gap. A team of 12 men and 6 vehicles, including three unmodified 1961 Corvairs made the attempt to cross the gap. Two of the three Corvairs successfully made it through the Darién Gap and onto South America. The remaining Corvair was abandoned deep in the jungle near the Panamanian-Colombian border. By the way, the Corvair was only rear wheel drive.
