Brazil, Three girls aged 6, 11 and 12 years drowned on Wednesday (13) in a river while playing near a bridge.

According to police they were playing on the river bank when one girl lost her footing and slipped and fell into the river, pulling another girl with her.

The third girl jumped into the river in an attempt to help her friends, but also ended up drowned.

According to police, two children were taken out of the water by people passing by.

They put both of them in seperate vehicles and brought them to the emergency room where they tried to revive them.

Hospital staff did all the procedures, but could not save the lives of the girls.

The mother of the third child told her daughter could not swim.

I've never learnt CPR, but I've seen it on TV enough times to at least give it ago. I don't understand why they didn't even do chest compressions, could've made all the difference.

Agreed. Damage is already done, why not lend their premature deaths the silver lining it deserves with a few well-timed jeers to amuse onlookers? It's just a little good, clean fun, for heaven's sake!

In all seriousness though, it is tragic that the poor girls died, but it boggles the mind that there are people who are stupid enough to get all worked up into fits over obvious bait. Such a person can be likened to a mouse; he would never spot the metal bar, whose malicious intent could be easily uncovered by the sort of cursory investigation that logic would seem to demand, before it snapped his spinal column cleanly off from his brain stem with the deadly, deliberate force of a device conceived with only the sole purpose of administering such a punishment. When someone makes a comment that is so over the top as to be absurd (e.g. "I'd hit it."), I find myself much more irritated by the morons who take it upon themselves to reprimand the crude individual.
