Surveillance camera footage shows the vehicle traveling at high speed before the violent collision (see above). The accident occurred directly in front of a textile company on Rua Doutor Nereu Ramos, one of the city's busiest streets, home to numerous shops and businesses. According to the Military Police, there was an electronic speed bump with a 50 km/h speed limit about 15 meters from the scene. The man, whose identity has not been released, was alone in the vehicle. The footage shows the car nearly hitting a motorcyclist passing by. There is no information yet on the circumstances of the accident. The fire department was called at 12:45 p.m. The scene was resolved around 3:20 p.m.

He was identified as Eduardo H. D, 45. He was the son of former mayor of Pomerode, Henrique.

Eduardo was driving a Mini Cooper and may have suffered a sudden illness before losing control of the vehicle. He was alone at the time of the accident.

The company reported that the victim was servicing and driving one of the shareholders' car at the time of the incident.
