They are drinking the wrong stuff. I drink many civilised Gin and Tonics and never get as much as a headache.

There have been cases of tourists dying or going blind, even when drinking from "decent" bars and from well known brands, such as smirnoff.The problem however, is fake booze can be poured into legit bottles. Stick to bottled beers to be safest |

This isn't bad booze. With bad booze, you don't drop dead in a chair. Specifically, if you're thinking this is another SE episode of methanol in the distilled liquor, that doesn't fit. Methanol poisoning has a latent period of 12 to 20 hours or more, followed by all kinds of unpleasant symptoms like "halo lights" and severe gastric distress which will have you running to the nearest ER. It takes up to 3 days before it kills you. This looks like alcohol + something like ketamine, as Caveman someone said earlier. They drank too much and then took something on top of it, and they quit breathing.
