He was probably sitting right next to a door so that when the vehicle started going over he had the chance to open the door and jump out. That opportunity didn't exist for most of the passengers, and those that were near an emergency exit were probably asleep with the crash happening in the early hours of the morning so even if the movement of the vehicle woke them their brief opportunity to escape was gone. I can't imagine there was any chance of anyone who went over the edge with the vehicle surviving, especially given the length of time it must have taken for help to arrive on scene...

I worked for a private charter coach/bus company and our biggest buses were 55' with seating for 53 or 54 counting the tiny bathroom lol, the wreckage looked to be a 30' bus at best. So if passengers were indeed on top as mentioned in a previous post then the total head count had to be much higher because surely some jumped off prior to the plunge, the few people milling around in the first video could have been them? I'd also bet during the rolling down that cliff a few people were flung into the river in the background. |
