All of the comments on the eyes still moving.. After the blood supply is cut off from the head, whatever oxygen is left in remaining blood in the head after being decapitated will supply the brain.. in turn, the brain/head/face stays alive until all oxygen left in tissue/blood is depleted. Not uncommon to see eyes moving, mouths moving as if talking etc. as the brain is still alive and thinking, hearing and can see. (Note to self, do not get decapitated..) Just don't get to witness it all too often as it takes most people that have no butcher skills time to get the head off of the vertebrae. That, and they use dull knives.. By the time the sloppier executioners get the head off the cervical spine the brain is dead. (Was common to witness this occur with guillotine beheadings due to the speed of the beheading.) |
