Re: Don't Bring a Fist to a Gunfight
Modern loads for 9mm, from say CorBon or SuperVel, move a 119 gr slug out of the muzzle at around 1150 fps. They are rated approx 93% one-shot-stop. There are some 90gr .380 ACP's that are quite close to that figure as well. It may well have been a .380 in question here. Either way, 'stopping power' is a Hollywood term that doesn't apply to modern self-defense loads. Just ask this sucker puncher. He sure as hell got 'stopped.' |

Re: Don't Bring a Fist to a Gunfight
A warning shot is still defined as use of deadly force, regadless of intent. In court you will have to explain how despite the supposed imminent threat, you had the time and safety to fire it at something other than said threat. There is an old saying, dont pull it if you arent gonna use it. Its better just not to pull it. Personally i doubt a defense plea will even hit the table. He was probably drunk and i doubt he had a cc and just minutes earlier he was involved in a fight with the guy he shot. |

Nick Carter thought that man was playing games, but he found out very quickly he wasn't!
